Working in Public Space
This page focuses on the work of organisers, producers, and mediators behind public projects. The works shown here were created by artists; my role was to organise, produce, and navigate the conditions that allowed them to take place in public space.
Guapo Sapo
Amman, Jordan (Oct 2021)
Artists:
YuMu, Alexander Isakov, Krashkid
(working together as Guapo Sapo)
Context
This project brought together three artists working as a collective, each with a distinct visual language. The works were realised as three separate murals, placed in dialogue through proximity and not through stylistic merging.
My role
Curation, organisation, and production of the project.
Structure
Implemented within the Baladk Street and Urban Arts Festival, under the leadership of Al Balad Theater.
Seth Globepainter
Amman, Jordan (2021)
Artist
Seth Globepainter
Context
Seth’s work often engages with themes of childhood, memory, and place, and develops through close attention to local social and cultural contexts. In this project, the two murals emerged through interaction with children from the neighbourhood. The work was shaped by the wall itself and the little time spent in the area.
My role
Curation, organisation, and production of the project, including coordination with the neighbourhood, facilitation of on-site interactions, and organisation of public-facing activities around the work.
Structure
Implemented within the Baladk Street and Urban Arts Festival, under the leadership of Al Balad Theater.
