The Arabic word "إرهاق" means exhaustion or strain. I chose it as the title because it speaks to a condition that builds a slow pressure that sits in bodies, machines, and systems. Instead of looking at exhaustion from our perspective, I turn to the things that carry us: the vehicle, the worker, the road.
Hussam Hasan and I each respond to this in different ways: through image, sound, and quiet repetition. The works speak to weight, movement, and the small breakdowns that shape the everyday.
Some forms of exhaustion are visible. Others are not. This exhibition asks what it means to continue — even when things begin to give way.

Hussam, the guest artist
Hussam Hasan is a visual artist, photographer, and image-based media consultant based in Amman, Jordan. His work explores public space, borders, and movement—often navigating the space between documentary and conceptual practice. He uses photography to engage with the political and emotional weight of everyday life, particularly in contexts shaped by transit, labor, and visibility.
Hussam has developed and exhibited projects across cities including Amman, Basel, Sion, and Beirut. He has collaborated with international platforms such as National Geographic, The New York Times Magazine, The Washington Post, UNESCO, the Goethe-Institut, and Brownbook magazine. In 2017, he received the Hans Wilsdorf Foundation scholarship to pursue a Master’s degree in Art in the Public Sphere at ÉDHÉA – École de design et haute école d’art du Valais in Sierre, Switzerland. In 2024, he self-published his first graphic novel, Nu’man.
